Overnight N16 was transformed for the better. The roads are quieter, there is less rat running and fast driving along residential roads which means I'm much less worried about my children's safety crossing the roads. Church Street is also so much more pleasant and walking along it as a pedestrian is less dangerous. The changes also mean that my family all cycle more than previously

Substantially all of the data that you have published focus on the traffic level changes on the roads closed by or within the low-traffic zone. You have conspicuously failed to provide specific identifiable data for traffic level changes on the A10 stretch adjacent to the zone, Manor Road, Green Lanes or any of the other roads in the area to which traffic has diverted as a result of the restrictions. These are largely residential roads and residents on those roads report having seen a very significant qualitative increase in traffic flow. The restrictions have therefore shifted traffic from a commercial road to surrounding residential ones that were not designed for such traffic levels and which are frequently congested as a result. Moreover, the restrictions have been planned without regard for the effects of temporary works and/or road blockages elsewhere in the area, and have therefore resulted in gridlock on occasion on the surrounding roads. Finally, your report says nothing about the periods over which the traffic data were collected, the times traffic was monitored or whether the percentage changes quoted in your update for pedestrians, traffic and cyclists are in fact properly comparable at all.

I think it is extremely unfair that residents on the boundary roads around this scheme are experiencing so much more traffic flow, congestion and pollution. Pollution must be higher ? because there is so much congestion and delays and idling engines on these roads. My particular street is quieter but walk 200 yards and there is the congestion on Manor Road / Lordship Park and Green Lanes. The cycle lane on Green Lanes has created dangerous conditions for pedestrians as well as slowing down all the buses. The zebra crossings don't feel safe, because of the speed of the cyclists, riding up the inside lane ,obscured from pedestrians vision and the cyclists can't see the pedestrians because of buses and vans stacked up. Similarly, Church Street now has the hazard of cyclists riding along far too fast, it's not exactly relaxed for pedestrians. There are also still so many cyclists and scooters on the pavements - why?! As for Edwards Lane, I have observed that it seems to be being treated like a two way flow street by cyclists. When cyclists or scooter riders do travel on that street in the actual right direction, usually too fast, they regularly turn left onto Church Street , go straight through red lights at the pedestrian crossing or go up on the pavement to avoid stopping, as the crossing is so close to the junction.
