How do you feel about the traffic measures in Cremer Street, as described above?

Positive

Public transport capacity post-lockdown remains much lower than before the pandemic and 70% of households in Hackney do not own a car. To what extent do you agree or disagree with our aspiration to rebuild a greener Hackney by encouraging more walking and cycling, and preventing car-use returning to pre-lockdown levels or above?

Strongly agree

• Walking

If you travelled to work before lockdown, what was your main mode of transport to get to work?

Walking

Overall, what do you DISLIKE, if anything, about the above traffic measures in Cremer Street? Select all that apply.

• The area is now less pleasant

• Increases rat-running

• Decreases road safety

• Increases traffic

• Increases air pollution

• Discourages me to spend time in the area

Do you want the above traffic measures in Cremer Street to be made permanent?

No

Please let us know if you have any other comments.

I agree in principle with road closures but you should have closed a smaller street. Closing cremer street is creating more rat runs down smaller parallel streets and meaning busses all get blocked on hackney road, which discourages people to use the bus. I liv on Hackney road and its increased air pollution as the queues are longer. Also - with no traffic on cremer street, it feels darker, moor deserted and less safe when I walk down there. Why could it not be closed at certain times?

• funnels traffic through other areas such as hackney road - you are just moving the problem elsewhere

All of these new measures restricting traffic flow through certain roads seem to be a zero sum gain - all of the traffic is now funnelled through one road being Hackney Road which means residents here are now exposed to all of the traffic that used to be spread through the area
